What to Know About a Commission
The price range for a commissioned painting is between €1.500 and €5.000, depending on the size and various other factors.
The cost is influenced by the dimensions of the painting and whether additional details, such as hands, intricate objects, elaborate jewelry, or detailed clothing, are included. These elements require more time and effort to complete.
For example, a simple portrait measuring 65×50 cm with standard clothing and a minimal background would cost €2.300. Payment is divided into two parts: 50% at the start and the remaining balance upon completion of the painting.
The Process:
1. Initial Discussion:
Begin by sending me a message. We will discuss your vision in detail, including the pose, mood, and emotions you wish to convey. I will also contribute ideas for clothing, backgrounds, and poses to help refine the concept.
2. Sketching and Composition:
Once we have a clear concept, I will create a charcoal sketch to determine the best composition. After your approval of the sketch, I will create a small color study to finalize the palette and overall tone.
3. Photography:
For the final painting, high-quality reference photos are essential. If we are unable to meet in person for this step, you would need to provide the photos yourself, potentially with the help of a professional photographer, depending on your situation.
4. Creating the Painting:
Depending on its size and complexity, the final painting will take between one to two months to complete. During this time, I will provide weekly progress updates. Minor adjustments can be made, but significant changes will not be possible once the painting is underway.
5. Delivery:
Upon completion, the painting will be carefully packaged and shipped to you with insurance included, ensuring protection against any potential damage during transit.
